Specifications

RANZITH® 250 Capsule : Each capsule contains Azithromycin USP250 mg as Azithromycin Dihydrate.

RANZITH® 500 Tablet : Each film-coated tablet contains Azithromycin USP500 mg as Azithromycin Dihydrate.

RANZITH® (Azithromycin) is indicated for infections (caused by susceptible organisms) in lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis and pneumonia, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media and in upper respiratory tract infections including sinusitis and pharyngitis / tonsillitis, in otitis media and in skin and soft tissue infection. In sexually transmitted disease in men and women RANZITH® (Azithromycin) is indicated in the treatment of uncomplicated genital infections due to chlamydia trachomatis.

Adult:RANZITH® (Azithromycin) should be given as 500 mg once daily orally for 3 days or as an alternative, given over 5 days with 500 mg on day 1, then 250 mg on days 2-5. For sexually transmitted disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis in adult, the dose is 1 gm given as a single dose.


Elderly patients: Normal adult dose is recommended.


Children: Children over 6 months 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days; or body weight 15-25 kg, 200 mg once daily for 3 days; or body weight 26-35 kg, 300 mg once daily for 3 days; or body weight 36-45 kg, 400 mg once daily for 3 days; As common with may other antibiotics Azithromycin should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meal and antacids.
