Specifications

Recofast CV 500 is an antibiotic medication falling under the anti-infectives therapeutic class. This combination drug features two active ingredients: Cefuroxime, in the form of Cefuroxime Axetil USP at a dosage of 500 mg, and Clavulanic Acid, presented as diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP at a dosage of 125 mg, per film-coated tablet. Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, effective against a wide range of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhancing the antibacterial efficacy of Cefuroxime by preventing bacterial resistance mechanisms.

Recofast CV 500 is indicated for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections, particularly where beta-lactamase-producing bacteria might render cephalosporins like Cefuroxime less effective. This includes infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and those affecting the ear, throat, and sinuses. It is also suitable for treating more complex infections such as Lyme disease and can be used as a prophylactic measure in certain surgical procedures to prevent postoperative infections.

The dosage of Recofast CV 500 (Cefuroxime 500 mg and Clavulanic Acid 125 mg) is based on the nature and severity of the infection, as well as the patient's age, body weight, and kidney function. In adults and children with normal kidney function, the usual dosage is one tablet taken orally twice daily.

Patients are advised to take the tablets with food, as this can improve the absorption and effectiveness of the medication. Completing the full prescribed course is essential, even if symptoms improve before the medication is finished, to ensure thorough eradication of the infection and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.

It is important to maintain evenly spaced intervals between doses to ensure a consistent level of the drug in the body. Patients with impaired kidney function may require dosage adjustments, and these should be made under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Adherence to the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment is crucial for the success of the therapy.
