Bactab™ 10 Tablet: Each tablet contains Baclofen BP 10 mg.
Baclofen is indicated for:
- Spasticity resulting from multiple sclerosis
- Flexor spasms and concomitant pain, clonus and muscular rigidity
- Skeletal muscle spasm resulting from rheumatic disorders
- Spinal cord injuries and other spinal cord diseases
- Cerebrovascular accidents or neoplastic or degenerative brain disease.
Adults: The determination of the optimal dosage of Baclofen requires individual titration. Start therapy at a low dosage and increase gradually until optimum effect is achieved (usually between 40-80 mg daily). The following dosage titration schedule is suggested, but may be adjusted to suit the patient.
- 5 mg three times a day for 3 days
- 10 mg three times a day for 3 days
- 15 mg three times a day for 3 days
- 20 mg three times a day for 3 days
- Thereafter additional increases may be necessary, but the total daily dose should not exceed a maximum of 80 mg daily, although in hospitalized patients daily doses of 100-120 mg may occasionally be necessary.
Children: Child up to 8 years, max. Total daily dose 40 mg/day; Child under 18 years, initially 0.3 mg/kg daily in 4 divided doses, increased gradually at weekly intervals until a satisfactory response; usual maintenance dose 0.75-2 mg/kg daily in divided doses; child 8-18 years, max. Total daily dose 60 mg/day.
